Since our registration in 2015 we have grown by 100 times, but our mission has remained unchanged.

Change through teachers

Education is a key factor in shaping society and a foundation for a successful Ukraine. Educator-to-educator learning is an effective way to grow professionally. Leaders of teacher communities play a crucial role in the professional growth of other educators and in their decisions to remain in the profession. Networks of mutual support are critically important for teacher preparation and professional sustainability.

Teachers are the best tool
for spreading the change.

Investing in one teacher we invest in thousands of people.

Theory of change

In 2022, the EdCamp Ukraine team updated the organization’s Theory of Change.

It describes the connection between specific actions and the achievement of results and explains the need to use particular strategies. It is designed to change the team’s way of thinking by focusing attention not only on what is being done, but also on what needs to change. It makes it possible to see progress toward change, identify weak links along the way, and make processes more transparent.

Our Theory of Change is a structured framework, a process tool, a visualization, and an organized set of assumptions, rationales, and indicators.

It sets out the mission, vision, results, evaluation system, strategies, and the contribution of the EdCamp Ukraine NGO.

We developed this strategic document together with Ruslana Orlovska, a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation (PCC ICF).

All our day-to-day work and project activities must align with these values.

People

We are a team where everyone has a voice. We value individuality, support equality, and believe that diversity makes us stronger.

Continuous growth

We are curious to discover new things, discuss them together, and put them into practice in our work. We read, learn, ask questions, and look for answers together.

We learn to listen to ourselves and notice when we need a break. We share practices that help us restore our energy and support one another through difficult times.

We do not stay silent about difficulties or hide our successes. We speak openly, with respect and trust, to build honest relationships.

Respect

We respect one another’s time, emotions, and personal boundaries. We know how to listen and hear one another, treat each other with warmth, and are attentive to the needs of others.

Work-life balance

We work with dedication, but we value rest just as much. Evenings, weekends, and vacations belong to each person, and the team respects everyone’s right to rest and recover.

Responsibility and quality

Each of us is responsible for our own work and for the outcome of our shared work. We acknowledge mistakes, try not to repeat them, and provide constructive feedback. We only eat “shrimp.”*

* "Shrimp" are our inside joke and a stop-word: it’s about a desire to improve things indefinitely, as if stuffing a prawn with another prawn, although prawns are good as they are.

Policies that safeguard our values

Policies are an integral part of our work, as they help us grow and comply with both Ukrainian legislation and international practices as we move toward achieving our goal. Before starting work at EdCamp Ukraine, new colleagues undergo mandatory policy training followed by a knowledge check.

For our team, policies are not simply a set of rules or obligations. They are documented agreements for effective collaboration as well as safeguards for rights and values.

Quality of professional development

We know very well how often professional development can become a mere formality, but that is not the case for us. For us, it is about genuine knowledge, new ideas, development, and the professional growth of educators.

That is why we have created a separate department at EdCamp Ukraine responsible for this process. We carefully review programs, work with the best trainers and experts, and make sure that every professional development document reflects real effort and results.

Our work is shaped by the joy, satisfaction, and growth we experience in the process. We cannot predict every outcome, but we can certainly make the journey enjoyable and productive.
