On February 24, EdCamp Ukraine started working on five initiatives to support Ukrainians.
These initiatives opened a new direction of work for us - humanitarian.
We have selected different formats so that each of you can join us at a convenient time from a convenient place.
Our Resiliency Tolokas are designed to practice resilience, social, emotional and ethical learning through the professional performance of invited guests, as well as through exercises and games.
Today, we must grow and develop, learn new things and share knowledge, teach and learn, be strong and strengthen our community to build a free and independent future for our country. Strengthening our own resilience, so we can respond to events with self-compassion, compassion to those around us, and our country, is the number one task on the path to Ukraine’s recovery and society’s healing.
For the event, we invite one international expert who is recognized in their field and can support Ukrainian educators during these challenging times of war. Participants of the Toloka have the opportunity to ask their questions live.
In the third season of Tolokas, we’ve added two special features to the format: practical cases from educators on applying SEE Learning exercises in educational institutions, and a unique game where several volunteers from the online audience can answer interesting (and funny) questions and win small prizes.
Following each event, we compile a booklet featuring the top ideas from the speakers, produce an audio podcast of the session, and create a video recap of the most significant insights. Participants can also receive a certificate if they confirm that they have advanced their professional skills.
We invite you to join us on the path to building resilience together!
This event is two hours rich with games, good news, an expert lecture with practices to strengthen mental health and resilience, as well as reflection.
Read articles in national media and pedagogical publications.
Records of all previous Resilience Tolokas can be found here, and announcements of the next ones — in our social networks.
The initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Germany within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD program.
The course we offer provides training in universal therapeutic methods for dealing with the effects of any traumatic events through the use of the Hibuki Therapy method.
We specifically designed the program “Hibuki School: Using the Hibuki Therapeutic Toy in Ukrainian Educational Institutions During Wartime, Post-War Periods, and Integration with the SEE Learning Program” for Ukrainian educators.
The program includes a detailed introduction to this therapeutic method for helping children and adolescents in crisis situations, as well as the specific use of the integrative toy (as a model for therapy and education).
Training in working with the Hibuki toy will now be available not only to psychologists but also to the entire teaching community.
The last two items are fully reflected in the Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning program, and one of the training modules will be dedicated to integrating the potential of these two tools (SEE Learning and Hibuki Therapy).
This guide is designed to introduce educators, school staff, psychological service workers, and administrators to the potential of the Hibuki Therapy method and to demonstrate its effectiveness in stabilizing children during the learning process and reducing the symptoms of stress and trauma. Download it via the link and make use of it, friends!

400 people completed online training (January-February 2023), attended supervision meetings (February-March 2023) and began implementing the method in their educational institutions.
We extend our gratitude to Dafna Sharon, Hibuki Therapy, and Amal. This initiative is supported by Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait (#ECW).
This training, designed for Ukrainian educators, is based on the Community Resiliency Model developed by the Trauma Resource Institute (USA).
It was created to foster resilience after experiencing traumatic events, and to build trauma-informed, resilience-focused communities that can support themselves and others within their broader social networks.
Designed to build resilience after experiencing traumatic events.
Experts from the Trauma Resource Institute (USA) conducted a series of certified flagship online seminars for two groups of participants. In total, we engaged 35 people from 10 regions of the country in the training.
Recordings on the theoretical foundations of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) can be found in the first meetings of the EdCamp Ukraine team and experts from the Trauma Resource Institute as part of the Resiliency Space initiative.

More detailsOur partners in the development of this program were representatives from The HALO Trust.
We conducted two waves of training in April-May and September, engaging a total of 773 people.
We extend our gratitude to Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait (#ECW) for their support in making this possible.
Given the multifaceted problems caused by the war, social and political polarization is intensifying in society between groups of people with different lived experiences. This polarization lowers the threshold for accepting differences and other perspectives, complicating everyday social interactions and, in particular, the educational process for children and youth.
This initiative aims to communicate to both our society and the international community the challenges the Ukrainian people are overcoming while living through the war, the difficult decisions being made, and the importance of learning to view situations from two opposing perspectives to foster understanding and unity.

This year, EdCamp Ukraine joined the “Be Internet Awesome” project, which aims to provide children with broader opportunities for safe and confident exploration of the online world.
The program introduces students to five fundamental topics of digital citizenship and safety (“Share with Care,” “Don`t Fall for Fake,” “Secure Your Secrets,” “It`s Cool to Be Kind,” “When in Doubt, Talk It Out”) and equips children with the tools and skills needed to confidently and safely explore, grow, and play online.
Project siteAll educational materials for the program on child internet safety have been translated into Ukrainian.
We conducted two in-person, multi-day training sessions for a cohort of trainers as part of the program and developed a training program for educators who want to master "Be Internet Awesome" and facilitate digital literacy lessons for their students. If you're interested in attending such training, please submit your application via the interest form, and we will keep you informed about potential training opportunities.
The Be Internet Awesome program is implemented in Ukraine by the EdCamp Ukraine NGO and is part of the Central and Eastern European Be Internet Awesome program offered by the Fundacja Szkoła z Klasą with support from Google.org.
EdCamp Ukraine together with the “Hallo” project created two pilot groups for learning English.
Educators, as well as students aged 13+, were offered to study English for free.
Open online meetings for everyone with experts from the Trauma Resource Institute and Emory University.
We practice SEE Learning live, provide practical advice on various topics of concern to Ukrainians, analyze individual cases, and provide advice.

Following the training sessions, we prepared a thematic guide titled “Resourceful Adults: How to Help Yourself and Children.” It contains practical advice from experts on managing emotions, coping with stress, improving well-being, and returning to joy and stability in challenging circumstances. The guide is divided into sections, each focused on addressing an important issue or developing resilience skills, which are crucial during wartime and post-war recovery.

EdCamp Ukraine implemented an initiative that helped to shed light on the status quo in Ukrainian education and build an understanding of the wartime school — a series of 27 interviews with educators whoaither remained in or relocated from various regions of Ukraine, about their work during the war, the functioning of educational institutions and personal experiences and feelings during the wartime.
The guide “Learning to cope” is based on the results of the initiative

As part of the project, an international crowdfunding campaign was launched to raise funds to support teachers. It is aimed at an international audience that can contribute a donation.
We provided technological kits to support 58 educators.
Having bought a set for remote work — a laptop, a computer mouse, a router, headphones — for those teachers who want to teach children, but because of the war they lost this opportunity, because now they do not have the necessary equipment.
We provided individual psychological consultations to 55 educators. Based on the work of our specialists, we developed a supportive guide titled “Learning to Cope: From Psychologists to Educators” for anyone in need of support during these challenging times of war.
Crowdfunding campaign “My war. The Lessons” and the purchase of technological kits was implemented with the financial support of the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation — a Project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the international non-governmental organization Save the Children and Education Cannot Wait# ECW.
Psychological support was provided in partnership with ChildFund Deutschland, with the financial support of Aktionsbündnis Katastrophenhilfe.
Interview series “My War. The Lessons” was produced with the financial support of the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation – a Project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
For the first time in our history, we have launched an online summer camp for students — “Smart Summer”.
We have developed unique programs for all age groups, from the 1st to 11th grade, and created 8 unique thematic groups.
19 teachers were involved in teaching activities in the camp. During the camp shifts, a total of 558 meetings were held.
In just 4 shifts, we engaged 608 students.
The initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Germany within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD program.
