On February 24, EdCamp Ukraine started working on five initiatives to support Ukrainians.
These initiatives opened a new direction of work for us - humanitarian.
We have selected different formats so that each of you can join us at a convenient time from a convenient place.
Our Resilience Tolokas are designed to practice resilience, socio-emotional and ethical learning through the professional performances of invited guests, as well as through exercises and games.
We invite one foreign expert to the event who is recognized in a certain field and can support Ukrainian teachers in difficult times of war.
Based on the results of each event, we compile a booklet with the best speaker ideas, an audio podcast of the meeting, a video notebook of the most iconic ideas, and a certificate.
This event is two hours rich with games, good news, an expert lecture with practices to strengthen mental health and resilience, as well as reflection.
Read articles in national media and pedagogical publications.
Records of all previous Resilience Tolokas can be found here, and announcements of the next ones — in our social networks.
The initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Germany within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD program.
The course we offer provides training in universal therapeutic methods of dealing with the consequences of any traumatic events by using the therapeutic method “Hibuki-therapy.”
We created a program “Hibuki-School: the use of the Hibuki therapeutic toy in educational institutions in war and post-war times and within the framework of integration with the SEEL program” specifically for Ukrainian teachers.
The course we offer provides training in universal therapeutic methods of dealing with the consequences of any traumatic events by using the therapeutic method “Hibuki-therapy.”
The training to work with the Hibuki toy will now be available not only to psychologists, but also to the entire teaching community.
The last two items are fully reflected in the program of socio-emotional and ethical learning, and one of the modules of learning will be devoted to the model of combining the potential of these two tools (SEEL and Hibuki-therapy).
After the training, a special guide will be created on how everyone can use the Hibuki-therapy tool. So a little later, download it and enjoy!

400 people completed online training (January-February 2023), attended supervision meetings (February-March 2023) and are already implementing the methodology in their schools.
We are thankful to Dafna Sharon, Hibuki Therapy, and Amal. The initiative will be supported by Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait #ECW.
This is a training with Community Resiliency Model for Ukrainian educators, which was developed by representatives of the Trauma Resource Institute (USA).
It is designed to achieve resilience after experiencing traumatic events, to build trauma-informed and resilience-focused communities that can help themselves and others in their wider social network.
Designed to achieve durability after
experiencing traumatic events
Specialists from the US Trauma Resource Institute conducted a series of certified flagship online workshops for 2 groups of listeners. In total, we engaged 35 people from 10 regions of the country in the training.
Notes with theoretical foundations about Community Resilience Models can be found in the first meetings of the EdCamp Ukraine team with experts from the Trauma Resource Institute within the framework of Open Resiliency Space.
The initiative is supported by Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait #ECW.
A system of regular activities to support adults and children.

We talk about all this in detail in the telegram channel.

YouTubeThere will be practical pieces of advice and tools that will help not to “lose” children during the war, to establish communication, to distract them from disturbing events.
TelegramEdCamp-Academy is a subject of professional development that will offer the most relevant programs on education during crises to both teachers and parents.
Learn about the formation of resilience skills in educational communities, the organization of the teacher’s work to reduce the emotional stress of schoolchildren in wartime conditions, tools for the development of critical thinking and creativity, etc.
Choose a programThe initiative is carried out with the support of the German federal government within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD. We thank Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Ukraine, Kyiv-Ukraine Bureau for supporting the project.
The professional development program “Watch, recognize, behave safely” is created in the form of a two-section methodological webinar on the behavior of adults in explosive ordnance contaminated areas and ways to talk about such risks with children and adolescents.
Professional development took place in accordance with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) 12.10, adapted to the Ukrainian context in 2022.
Representatives of The HALO Trust became partners in the development.
We implemented two waves of the training in April-May and September, engaging a total of 773 people.
We thank Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait #ECW for their support in the implementation.
Given the multifaceted nature of the problems caused by the war, social and political polarization in society is intensifying between the groups of people with different experiences; moreover, the threshold for acceptance of otherness and other experiences is decreasing, which complicates everyday and social interaction and, in particular, the educational process for children and youth.
The initiative will make it possible to convey to our society and the international community what challenges the Ukrainian people are overcoming while living in war conditions, how difficult decisions are made, and how important it is now to learn to look at the situation from two opposite positions in order to understand each other and connect together.
You can learn about the start of the project from our social networks or the official website.
The initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Germany within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD program.
EdCamp Ukraine together with the “Hallo” project created two pilot groups for learning English.

Open online meetings for everyone with experts from the Trauma Resource Institute and Emory University.

EdCamp Ukraine has started an initiative that will help to highlight the status quo in Ukrainian education and build an image of school at wartime — a series of 27 interviews with educators who are located or have moved from different regions of Ukraine, about their work during the war, the functioning of educational institutions and personal feelings and senses during the wartime.
The book is based on the results of the initiative

As part of the project, an international crowdfunding campaign will be launched to collect funds to help teachers. The funds will be spent on the purchase of laptops and packages for Internet access, as well as on psychological help for teachers.
We supported 58 teachers with technological kits.
Having bought a set for remote work – a laptop, a computer mouse, a router, headphones – for those teachers who want to teach children, but because of the war they lost this opportunity, because now they do not have the necessary equipment.
We provided personal psychological consultations to 55 teachers. Based on the results of the work of specialists, a support book was developed for all who need support in difficult times of war.
Crowdfunding campaign “My war. Lessons” and the purchase of technological kits was implemented with the financial support of the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation – a Project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the international non-governmental organization Save the Children and Education Cannot Wait# ECW.
Psychological support was provided in partnership with ChildFund Deutschland, with the financial support of Aktionsbündnis Katastrophenhilfe.
Interview series «My War. Lessons for Humanity» was produced with the financial support of Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation – a Project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
For the first time in our history, we have launched an online summer camp for students — “Smart Summer”.
We have developed unique programs for all age groups, from the 1st to 11th grade, and created 8 unique thematic groups.
19 teachers were involved in teaching activities in the camp. During the camp shifts, a total of 558 meetings were held.
In just 4 shifts, we engaged 608 students.
