People

People are at the heart of everything we do, and this page is all about them. They are the people who bring our community to life and make it what it is.

Everyone you see here brings their skills and talents to helping our community grow, become stronger, and develop sustainably. Most importantly, you can always turn to them for support, reach out with a question, or simply share something good — or not so good.

Board of Trustees

The EdCamp Ukraine Board of Trustees is an advisory and consultative body made up of leading figures in academia, government, the arts, and civil society who share our goal and are ready to support us in achieving it.

Tetiana Havrysh

Our Head

"EdCamp Ukraine works to put into practice the values of respecting children in all their diversity. Every child is a unique world that needs to be heard. And this team does everything it can to help Ukrainian teachers make children happy.”

Tetiana Havrysh

Managing Partner at ILF law firm, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, Lead Expert at the Healthy Solutions Foundation, and Head of the Kharkiv Expert Group supporting healthcare reform.

Anatolii Babichev

“As a Vice-Rector of Karazin University, I genuinely care about the development of Ukrainian education. My work is primarily focused on higher education. But I am delighted that my path has crossed with EdCamp Ukraine. This is a team that is shaping Ukraine’s future at the school level, guided by a deeply important belief: that the professional development of teachers has a direct impact on our children. I wholeheartedly support this vision and will continue to do so as a member of the Board of Trustees.”

Anatolii Babichev

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

Serhii Zhadan

“We have no choice but to keep developing, supporting, and reforming our education system, because education is not simply about the diplomas we award. It is about the values and ideas that will shape our society tomorrow.”

Serhii Zhadan

Ukrainian writer, translator, civic activist, and frontman of the bands Zhadan i Sobaky and Liniya Mannerheima.

Liliia Hrynevych

“I support EdCamp Ukraine for several reasons. First, they inspire educators and provide opportunities for professional growth and development. Second, they bring a high level of expertise and the ability to contribute to the legislative process, draft policy documents, and work effectively as a team. Third, they are deeply committed to reforming Ukrainian schools. With EdCamp Ukraine and the 34,000 members of this movement, I am confident that the reform cannot be reversed.”

Liliia Hrynevych

Education policy expert, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (2016–2019).

Viktoriia Miliutina

“EdCamp Ukraine works to uphold the values of respect for every child, regardless of their differences. Every child is a unique world that deserves to be heard. And this team does everything it can to help Ukrainian teachers make children happy.”

Viktoriia Miliutina

Director of the Northern Interregional Department of the National Health Service of Ukraine

Serhii Koleboshyn

“EdCamp Ukraine, as an organisation, is, without exaggeration, the most powerful non-governmental initiative in education since Ukraine gained independence. Today, it offers the best networking opportunities for educators in Ukraine. I have been following the organisation’s work since its second year, and I have seen how ideas and determination can transform even a system as conservative as education.”

Serhii Koleboshyn

Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation

Nataliia Moseichuk

“I support EdCamp Ukraine because I believe in the movement of white crows — those who dare to be different. I believe that teachers can be different, that they can keep learning, remain open-minded, and embrace change. I believe in teachers who give children not only knowledge, but also motivation and inspiration. That is exactly what EdCamp is about. As a mother myself, I have encountered different teachers, different schools, and different approaches. So I have the experience to compare and make my own choice. And I choose EdCamp Ukraine.”

Nataliia Moseichuk

Journalist and TV presenter on the 1+1 television channel

Yevheniia Smirnova

“I understand the strength of the educational community, its potential, and its aspirations. EdCamp is a unique space where educators can find inspiration, share experiences, introduce high-quality and innovative teaching practices, and work together to transform education for the better.”

Yevheniia Smirnova

Founder of the School of Superheroes

Taras Topolia

“EdCamp Ukraine is one of the most influential non-governmental organisations in the field of education. This team has quickly brought together tens of thousands of supporters from the educational community, inspiring them, energising them, and giving them the motivation to work towards a better future for children. This matters because education and upbringing are what give us hope as a nation. Only education can place Ukraine on an equal footing with the world’s most developed countries. And only an educated mind can give us, as a country, the opportunity to show the world the very best of what we are capable of.”

Taras Topolia

Musician, frontman of the band Antytila, and Friend of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Ukraine

Hadley Ferguson

“This team coordinates the EdCamp format nationwide, providing teachers with a space to learn and grow together, ultimately transforming classroom experiences for students. The EdCamp Ukraine movement began with its own vision for change in the national education system and, through hard work and dedication, has turned that vision into reality. At a time when teachers face so many challenges, the EdCamp Ukraine community supports educators through a wide range of opportunities for engagement. This empowers them to teach better than ever before, building on shared experiences and collaboration.”

Hadley Ferguson

Educator, co-founder of the EdCamp movement, and Co-Chair of the EdCamp Community Advisory Committee

Slava Frolova

“For me, EdCamp is a source of strength — a community of inspiring people united by shared values and a common sense of purpose. Over the three years of our friendship and collaboration, EdCamp has become very close to my heart. The changes they are making are truly impressive. As an organiser myself, I understand just how much effort goes into these processes, but this is only the beginning! These tireless people are constantly searching for solutions and fresh ideas for education as a whole and for teachers in particular. EdCamp Ukraine is one of the most hardworking and effective agents of change in Ukrainian education.”

Team

The EdCamp Ukraine team is united, although very diverse. We previously worked in business, government institutions, universities and schools, in PR and consulting. But all of us were connected with school education in one way or another. And all of us want to change it for the better. So our paths inevitably brought each of us here — to the best team in the world. At least, it is the best for us.

Associate membership

This approach is widely used by various civil society organizations and associations. Associate membership helps define the relationship between an organization and its community more clearly, foster greater engagement and mutual support, and enable them to work together to develop the field in which they operate.

Команда

Special force

We also consider EdCamp women and men who stay in close contact with us to be part of our team. They not only take part in all EdCamp Ukraine initiatives but also help bring them to life, including by serving as true mentors to the teams of regional mini-EdCamps. We affectionately call these people our “Special force.”

“Force” here refers figuratively to a group of people who are somewhere for a particular purpose. We began using this term long before 2022. By continuing to use it today, we affirm that the war is temporary.

Expert groups

At EdCamp, we always prioritize the quality of learning. It is not an easy path, but it is always the most effective one. That is why major training programs or projects are preceded by an equally important stage — training the group of trainers or experts. Over the years, we have had several such cohorts, and we invite you to get to know them better.
