How we help

One of the hallmarks of EdCamp events — and something at the heart of our community — is helping others. We regularly launch charitable initiatives that bring our community together.

We foster a culture of giving in many different ways, both through our events and beyond. It is important to us that you are willing to support others and initiate charitable activities at regional events, in your communities, and among your students. The EdCamp community is built on strong horizontal connections, and this is true of our charitable work as well: you share fundraisers and initiatives, announce your own campaigns, help one another, and set an example of mutual support. And it is not always about financial support — we often collect a wide range of items that can also provide much-needed practical support.

Supporting teachers

We often say that you need to put on your own oxygen mask first, because only when teachers have the resources they need can they give to their students. That is why we regularly support educators both within our community and beyond.

2022

My war. The lessons

As part of a crowdfunding campaign, we raised funds to purchase and provide teachers with 55 technology kits, each consisting of a laptop, computer mouse, router, and headphones. In addition, 55 women educators received 10 hours of individual psychological counseling each.

2021

National EdCamp Joy!-)

Psychologists from the Art Therapy Association NGO held three psychological support sessions for participants and also provided teachers with 25 hours of individual counseling by phone.

Every contribution matters

Of course, our support goes beyond charity initiatives at our events. Everyone on our team regularly helps those who defend our freedom and our future. In addition to regularly supporting the educational initiative “A Teacher Goes to the Armed Forces,” our entire team actively contributes to fundraisers and helps meet the urgent needs of military units, especially those where our family members and loved ones serve. These include the 15th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “Kara-Dag,” the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of Ukraine, the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of Unmanned Systems named after Yakiv Handziuk, and many others.

Building a culture of giving

What makes us especially happy is seeing a culture of giving take root among the new generation. Today’s students, growing up in the difficult realities of wartime, take part in fundraisers and charitable initiatives.

For example, students using the POVIR educational platform can earn vircoins, a virtual currency they receive for completing learning challenges. They can exchange the vircoins they earn for merchandise or donate them to good causes.

Students joined the “Lend a Hand to Khartiia” fundraiser and donated 7,850 vircoins, equivalent to the same amount in hryvnias under our internal exchange rate. The organization then doubled this amount and donated the funds to the military.
