Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning in Ukraine

SEE Learning in Ukraine

In Ukraine, SEE Learning is being piloted within a nationwide school experiment supported by the Institute of Education Content Modernization (IMZO), the Institute for Current Educational Challenges at the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, and with the support of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ.

First SEE Learning steps in Ukraine

  • 26 educational institutions in the nationwide experiment of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the built-in system of their information and methodical support
  • 5,023 children and 425 teachers piltot the program
  • 4 model learning programs (for grades 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-9) have been approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MOS) as an elective course
  • Lessons for early elementary, elementary, and high school (for high school — in development)
  • Program Scaling: face-to-face (SEEL Immersion training, 36 hours) and online (Online Workshop 2.0 "Introduction to SEEL", 22 hours), completion of which provides the right to teach SEEL to learners in Preschool, School, and Vocational (Technical) Education institutions
  • SEEL Trainer Training Program (240 hours), a certificate upon completion of which grants the right to teach adults (pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical workers)
  • Playbook for students aged 6-10 (under development)
  • Introductory online course for educators from Emory University (in Ukrainian)
  • The coaching team from SEEL consists of 17 people, the facilitator team from SEEL consists of 14 people
  • A community of practitioners of SEEL
  • 5 guides for teachers, 1 for parenting
  • Feasibility study "Social and Emotional Learning in Ukraine: Present and Prospects"
  • Survey “SEE Learning in Ukraine through the Eyes of Teachers: Before the War, in Times of War, and after the War” (under development)
