Today

Today, EdCamp Ukraine community unites over 50,000 educators. Most of them work in schools, but many come from preschool and out-of-school sectors, colleges, and other organizations. One in two Ukrainian schools has a teacher from our community, and on average it’s three edcampers per school.

What we do

Our team explores education systems in Ukraine and abroad, learns the best global practices, drafts amendments to education laws, introduces efficient methods, programs, and approaches. As far as we can, we’ve been trying to create a community of responsible parents as well, since our shared goal is for the best educators to teach our kids.

The most important part of what we do is motivating educators to grow and share their experience, ideas, and inspirations with each other, be happy and efficient in teaching and in life overall.

Members of the responsible teachers’ community accept constructive ideas to practice and share them with their peers. Initially the percentage of edcampers among the total number of educators was not that weighty so they went through some difficult times, thus our self-name white crows. But the EdCamp community keeps growing, and the white crows are now a source of fundamental changes in education. Our mission is to help them.

We act on three levels like ripples in water

  • The first level is personal, or Self

We offer possibilities for educators to grow professionally.

  • The second level is professional, or School and Community

We encourage educators to introduce acquired knowledge in their schools.

  • The third level is systemic, or Ukraine and the World

We provide our community with tools for cooperation and communication.

Each ring spreads further: the higher the societal level, the more widespread the impact.

Our approach

Our approach

The ideas and innovations advocated by the movement participants are numerous and diverse. But they all are grounded in humanistic education — the approach that places a child in the center and emphasizes the role of children and their skills and talents, while teachers become guides along the learning path side by side with children and their parents. This approach requires new methods that are democratic, creative, and flexible. Being an organization that helps educators learn, EdCamp Ukraine practices the same approach towards educators, placing them and their skills and talents in the center. All our projects and events are grounded in the belief that teachers are willing to realize their need to grow professionally, can make decisions independently, and are creative & responsible. Put differently, they can travel from one peak to another, become better versions of themselves, and be fulfilled in every moment of their lives.

Our partners

We are aware of the efficiency of horizontal, partnership relations; therefore, we are happy to jointly engage in education initiatives with other organizations that share our principles & goals, and to invite them to our projects. We cooperate with state and non-governmental institutions, search and engage partners from business, including international business, and actively involve volunteers.
