We created a program “Hibuki-School: the use of the Hibuki therapeutic toy in educational institutions in war and post-war times and within the framework of integration with the SEEL program” specifically for Ukrainian teachers.
The training to work with the Hibuki toy will now be available not only to psychologists, but also to the entire teaching community.
The course we offer provides training in universal therapeutic methods of dealing with the consequences of any traumatic events by using the therapeutic method “Hibuki-therapy.”
A detailed acquaintance with this therapeutic method of helping a child and adolescent in a crisis situation, with the specifics of using an integrative toy (as a model of therapy and training) is envisaged.
Classes with the Hibuki toy will contribute to:
✔ strengthening inclusive education;
✔ the development of soft skills, in particular, the ability to communicate and work in a team;
✔ learning to empathize with oneself and others, creativity, and critical thinking.
The last two items are fully reflected in the program of socio-emotional and ethical learning, and one of the modules of learning will be devoted to the model of combining the potential of these two tools (SEEL and Hibuki-therapy).
400 people will undergo online training (January-February 2023), attend supervisory meetings (February-March 2023), and implement the method in their educational institution.
We are thankful to Dafna Sharon, Hibuki Therapy, and Amal. The initiative will be supported by Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait #ECW
Our Resilience Tolokas are designed to practice resilience, socio-emotional and ethical learning through the professional performances of invited guests, as well as through exercises and games.
We invite one foreign expert to the event who is recognized in a certain field and can support Ukrainian teachers in difficult times of war.
Among the previous guests of Toloka Resilience were:
✔️ Rebecca Rolland,
✔️ Janeane Bernstein,
✔️ Eileen Naomi Rusk,
✔️ Elaine Miller-Karas.
Based on the results of each event, we compile a booklet with the best speaker ideas, an audio podcast of the meeting, a video notebook of the most iconic ideas, and a certificate.
This event is two hours rich with games, good news, an expert lecture with practices to strengthen mental health and resilience, as well as reflection.
Records of all previous Resilience Tolokas can be found here, and announcements of the next ones — in our social networks.
The initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Germany within the framework of the Civil Peace Service Ukraine – GIZ ZFD program.
This is a training with Community Resiliency Model for Ukrainian educators, which was developed by representatives of the Trauma Resource Institute (USA).
It is designed to achieve resilience after experiencing traumatic events, to build trauma-informed and resilience-focused communities that can help themselves and others in their wider social network.
Specialists from the US Trauma Resource Institute conducted a series of certified flagship online workshops for 2 groups of listeners.
In total, we engaged 35 people from 10 regions of the country in the training.
The professional development program “Watch, recognize, behave safely” is created in the form of a two-section methodological webinar on the behavior of adults in explosive ordnance contaminated areas and ways to talk about such risks with children and adolescents.
Professional development took place in accordance with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) 12.10, adapted to the Ukrainian context in 2022.
Representatives of The HALO Trust were the partners in the development.
We implemented two waves of the training in April-May and September, engaging a total of 773 people.
We thank Save the Children in Ukraine and Education Cannot Wait #ECW for their support in the implementation.
EdCamp Ukraine, together with the Hallo project, created two pilot groups to study English.
Educators, as well as students of 13+ years, were invited to the free training.
The participants of the initiative received:
✔ a safe space for learning and communication, protected by a professional team of the training moderators;
✔ more than 1,000,000 like-minded people from different countries of the world who want to learn English and converse in it;
✔ an interactive tool for learning a language with other people around the world;
✔ online classes with an English teacher 24/7;
✔ individual lessons with one’s favorite teacher;
✔ group conversations with other project participants at any time to speak fluently and increase one’s confidence.
EdCamp Ukraine has started an initiative that will help to highlight the status quo in Ukrainian education and build an image of school at wartime — a series of 27 interviews with educators who are located or have moved from different regions of Ukraine, about their work during the war, the functioning of educational institutions and personal feelings and senses during the wartime.
✅ Full interviews can be found here https://www.edcamp.ua/en/my-war-lessons-en/ and on Nakypilo Media Group website https://nakipelo.ua/category/spetstemy/mywarlessonsofedcampukraine/
As part of the project, an international crowdfunding campaign will be launched to collect funds to help teachers. The funds will be spent on the purchase of laptops and packages for Internet access, as well as on psychological help for teachers.

EdCamp Ukraine together with the “Hallo” project created two pilot groups for learning English.
Educators, as well as students 13+ years old, were offered to study English free.
The initiative participants will receive:
✔ a safe space for learning and communication, protected by a professional team of training moderators;
✔ more than 1,000,000 like-minded people from different countries of the world who want to learn English and communicate in English;
✔ an interactive tool for learning a language with other people around the world;
✔ online classes with an English teacher 24/7;
✔ individual lessons with your favorite teacher;
✔ group conversations with other learners at any time to speak freely and increase your confidence.
Given the multifaceted nature of the problems caused by the war, social and political polarization in society is intensifying between the groups of people with different experiences; moreover, the threshold for acceptance of otherness and other experiences is decreasing, which complicates everyday and social interaction and, in particular, the educational process for children and youth.
The initiative will make it possible to convey to our society and the international community what challenges the Ukrainian people are overcoming while living in war conditions, how difficult decisions are made, and how important it is now to learn to look at the situation from two opposite positions in order to understand each other and connect together.
This initiative is a multifaceted multi-construction and offers:
✔ text stories written with the Jack Grapes Method Writing that reveal counterpositions;
✔ images for themes and stories made by well-known illustrators;
✔ audio versions of texts in the podcast format,
✔ video announcements.
You can learn about the start of the project from our social networks or the official website.
